Class levels

Level 0 - No experience required!
Level 1 - You've taken intro to sewing OR you're comfortable setting up a sewing machine and using it to make a straight                       stitch and are ready for your next project
Level 2 - You've made a 1-3 small projects and want to learn garment and quilt making basics
Level 3 - You've made a handful of small - medium sized projects and are ready for a more complex project
Level 4 - You've made a few garments and are comfortable working with sewing patterns

Class Description

-----There is no sewing or project made in this class----- Are you garment sewing curious, but uncertain where to start? This lecture based class is perfect for anyone who wants to start sewing their own clothes, but feels overwhelmed by all the options, terminology, and new information. We’ll give you a crash course on everything you need to know so you have solid footing to start your garment making journey. In this class we will cover: -The differences between paper and PDF patterns -Indie Patterns vs Big Four Patterns -What to look for when deciding on a pattern -Whether to trace or to cut pattern pieces -Pattern markings & their meanings -Choosing fabrics for your pattern -Best practices for fabric prep -Cutting layouts and how to efficiently use fabric to reduce waste -How to measure your body and choose a size -Size inclusive & gender inclusive indie pattern designers Materials List: Bring a notebook and pen for note taking Students will receive a handout with all the info covered in the class


Class Policies

-Class instruction starts no later than 5 minutes after the class start time. Participants who arrive later may miss instruction or demonstrations. -Sincere Studio will be sending out emails with important class information, including lists of materials students may need to bring to class.
